Why are men emotionally constipated??

by spacepenguin @ 2007-04-18 - 11:42:58

My "significant other" has been in a bad mood for 4 days now. Why?? I'm not sure because as always he doesn't want to talk about it. On good days he can be such a nice person and I love spending time with him. When he is in a bad mood, he criticises me for everything and anything and generally puts me down. For example: yesterday I was trying to passify him by making him a cup of coffee and he told me I was "being too helpful". Then this morning the way I was sitting was "depressing him". Needless to say, when he is like this I withdraw from him emotionally and physically and when I try to stay out of his way he says I'm in a bad mood and am never affectionate with him. Whats that all about??

we generally find it difficult to express feelings, but after four days, even i would start to crack i think!
if he has a job i wonder if he's having a hard time at work - maybe stuck in a power struggle or being made to feel insecure??

hope it passes!
best wishes
kevin

The way he is behaving is nothing to do with me. We are NOT all the same, thank you. I, for example, am much worse.

aww you poor girl. I dont see why you should have to put with that. I'd wait until he was in one of his 'good' moods and kinda tell him how he makes you feel when he's being a dick. He might see you point. Have a good day

Yep. Totally agree. If you try to bring it up now while he is in full mood swing it may agitate things. Definately wait but make sure you don't just let it go.

I'm totally with EnamelSlide. Very good advice.

Perhaps he feels trapped in an existential vacuum in which he is suspended in a bubble: knowing he should be happy, but something is in the way of the contentment. my girlfriend is often too helpful, and it really is infuriating - which is so daft, but the fact that it is annoying is the very thing that makes the world seem so backwards - thus provoking further, futile, pondering on the meaning of everything. ludicrous.

If that was me I would expect to be told to "FUCK OFF"
